The Scuba Dive Online team are super excited to announce that we can now teach the entire classroom workshop section of the PADI IDC online.
This last year and a half, many of our instructor candidates had to postpone or even cancel their trip to Thailand to become PADI Dive Instructors. Some had already completed their IDC eLearning and have been waiting to travel. Others are waiting until they are sure of travel dates before they commit. However, now there is no need to wait.
Instructor candidates can complete their eLearning and attend the dry part of the IDC by attending LIVE face-to-face presentations and workshops with the PADI Course Directors at Scuba Dive Online. Once they complete this part of their IDC, they can finish the in-water diving segment at their chosen PADI 5 star IDC centre, anywhere in the world.
PADI Course Directors Tim Hunt, Natalie Hunt and Monique Richards have been working hard to produce a virtual classroom setting using the latest digital education tools. Candidates can collaborate during classes using interactive white boards, virtual locations such as pools and open water, and organize their own course schedules with fun workshops and puzzles.
So, how do you complete the PADI IDC eLearning?
First, once ordered, Scuba Dive Online will email you a code. After you have redeemed the code, there are instructions on how to get started. We are able to follow your progress and can help you at any point during your learning.
The eLearning covers 16 subjects ranging from how to conduct and schedule all PADI courses, managing risk, classroom and in-water training, how to run a diving business, dive theory for professionals and more.
Each chapter is segmented with quizzes to check your understanding and concludes with a knowledge review.
The Scuba Dive Online team will be monitoring your progress throughout. To enhance your understanding, particularly of Dive Theory, we offer live face-to-face presentations. These presentations are exclusive to Scuba dive Online and cover the Physics of Diving, Physiology, Diving Skills and Environment, Equipment and Decompression Theory. Another unique benefit to IDC candidates is our online dive theory practice exams. Again, we can monitor your progress for each exam and give you remedial training where needed.
Your online face-to-face IDC.
Once all eLearning segments are completed, you are ready to start your online face-to-face IDC. The Scuba Dive Online team will send you a 7-day schedule where you will meet and complete all IDC classroom workshops together. Each segment will take 3 hours per day.
There are 14 dry presentations and workshops which will be covered. These include learning and teaching workshops, how to set-up schedule and teach PADI courses, risk management, knowledge development presentations, sales workshops and more.
These online sessions are a great way to get to know each other and normally candidates stay in touch afterwards, even if they are not finishing their IDC at the same dive centre.
Finishing your IDC underwater.
This leaves only in-water work with dry runs, and presentations to complete at your chosen PADI 5-star IDC Centre. You will practice skills development, DSD workshops, confined and open water teaching presentations, advanced and rescue diver workshops, among others. By the time you take your 2-day Instructor Exams (IE) you will be more than ready.
There is no time limit from completing the eLearning to taking the in-water part of the course as you can refresh your knowledge before you dive in. Whether you decide to travel to Thailand and complete your IDC with the Scuba Dive Online team, or stay home and dive in locally, you will be geared up and ready to go!
