5 preparation tips for when you are able to Dive!

Travel

Is life feeling a little like Groundhog day!  Indoors with the whole family, trying to think of constructive, educational and meaningful ways to fill the days, especially during the holidays for the children and even more challenging, teenagers.  Many of us, once we are able to leave our homes, will be looking for that well deserved break.

Thousands cancelled travel plans this year, and many decided to have their “stay-cations” in their home countries.  With all this extra time, there are some fun things you can do to prepare for what will be the most needed trip you will ever have!

1.      Become a Scuba diver!  Yes you can start your diving education from home, from as young as 10 years old. The PADI Open Water course is the most recognized diving certification in the world.  If you have never dived and are thinking becoming one, you can start preparing with PADI eLearning now.  All knowledge development and exams can be taken online before your holiday, and if you book with Scuba Dive Online, you can chat to our dive team live and listen to free online live presentations, enhancing your learning experience and more than preparing you for your underwater adventures.

2.      If you are already a certified diver, most PADI Courses have eLearning options in most languages, so whether you want to become an Advanced, Rescue, Specialty diver, or even take the professional route and become a PADI Divemaster or Instructor, there are sections you can take online before your trip.  Plus you can chat with the Scuba Dive Online team to find out your best route.  This will mean lots more time underwater.  Moreover,  if you haven’t dived in a while, take the PADI reactivate online.  Refresh your diving knowledge ready for an in-water review of skills, which you could take at your local dive centre.

3.      Do you have your own dive equipment?  Put all your Dive Equipment on and get in the bath……sounds eccentric, but I know many divers who, after a time out of the water, have done this.  Firstly, to get a good FaceBook photo, but also to see if their equipment is in good order.  Look for leaks and bubbles in a fully inflated BCD, water coming into your mask, mouthpieces etc. Put your face in your fish tank and blow some bubbles.  Once you are able to dive again, an equipment service at your local Dive Shop is a good idea, ready to jump straight in once you arrive.  If you are looking to buy any dive equipment, Scuba Dive Online can give recommendations to suit you and your chosen dive environment.

4.      Choose where you want to dive.  Whether you are a beginner, already a diver, or want to become a PADI Pro, Scuba Dive Online can showcase the best dive locations and PADI Dive Centres across the planet, helping you make the right choice when booking your next dive experience.  This can be in your home country, if you are unable to travel, close to home, or at the other side of the world.  We can recommend world class PADI dive centres and resorts, many with whom we have worked ourselves.

5    If you are thinking of taking your PADI course abroad, make sure your documents are in order.  Most entry visas require that you have at least six months validity remaining on your passport, so take a look now.  It’s better to be prepared than leave it to a last-minute panic.

At Scuba Dive Online we can help you with any preparation you need to start or continue your scuba diving adventure.  70% of the planet is hidden beneath the waves.  Scuba divers can explore this unseen world in so many locations. Tropical blue waters, cool fresh water lakes, under ice, from local beaches in their home country.  Start your PADI diving course today with Scuba Dive Online, the underwater world awaits you.
