Become a PADI Instructor in Thailand with Our Hybrid IDC Programme!

The PADI IDC in Phi Phi combines the flexibility of online learning with practical instructor training on one of Thailand’s most famous islands. Hosted by our Scuba Dive Online partners, The Adventure Club, a PADI 5 Star CDC and PADI ECO Dive Centre, this hybrid programme allows you to complete the classroom curriculum from home before travelling to Koh Phi Phi for ten days of practical instructor training.

Your online training is delivered by Platinum PADI Course Director Monique Richards, while the in water programme is led by Platinum PADI Course Director Neil Richards. Together, they bring decades of international experience training PADI Professionals around the world.

How Does the Hybrid PADI IDC Work?

Before your programme begins, you will complete all sixteen sections of the PADI IDC eLearning included in your Digital Crewpak.

You will then attend seven live online sessions with Monique Richards, three hours per day, covering the complete IDC classroom curriculum, theory presentations and instructor workshops.

After completing the online section, you will travel to Koh Phi Phi for ten days of practical instructor training with Neil Richards. This includes refining your diving skills, all required confined water, open water and knowledge development presentations, together with additional coaching and the opportunity to complete PADI Instructor Specialties, working towards your MSDT rating.

WHAT ARE THE REQUIREMENTS?

To join the PADI IDC you must:

Be a certified PADI Divemaster or qualifying professional.
Have been a certified diver for at least six months.
Have completed Emergency First Response training within the previous 24 months.
Hold a medical statement signed by a physician within the previous 12 months, if required.
Have at least 100 logged dives before attending the PADI Instructor Examination.

If you have not yet completed your Divemaster course, Scuba Dive Online can help you choose the best pathway to becoming a PADI Professional.

After completing the online section, you’ll join the in-water portion of your IDC in Phi Phi, where you’ll train for 11 days with one of Scuba Dive Online’s PADI Course Directors, followed by a 2-day Instructor Exam (IE).
The “IDC LIVE” online can be completed on the 1st or 15th of each month. We recommend finishing it the month prior to your in-water IDC so the material stays fresh.

DO I NEED A VISA TO JOIN THE IDC IN KOH PHI PHI?

Most international candidates are recommended to arrive in Thailand on a 60 day Tourist Visa. This provides plenty of time to complete your IDC and enjoy everything Koh Phi Phi has to offer before or after your programme. Visa requirements vary depending on your nationality, so please check the latest requirements before travelling.

WHAT UNIQUE DIVING EXPERIENCES AND MARINE LIFE CAN I EXPECT IN KOH PHI PHI?

Koh Phi Phi offers vibrant coral reefs, dramatic limestone cliffs, and rich marine life. Dive sites like Bida Nok and Bida Nai are famous for their coral gardens, leopard sharks, and colorful fish. The King Cruiser Wreck is another popular site, home to soft corals and various invertebrates. Between the reefs, you’ll encounter hawksbill turtles, black-tip reef sharks, and schools of tropical fish. For macro enthusiasts, look out for seahorses and ghost pipefish hidden in the corals.
