Norma talks about the PADI Enriched Air Nitrox eLearning.
Meet Norma, a retired elementary school teacher from Las Vegas, Nevada. Norma, at the age of 72, is a true inspiration to all women in diving. She is passionate about the underwater world and is constantly seeking new adventures. With nearly 450 logged dives under her weight belt, Norma wanted to spend even more time underwater, which is why she contacted Scuba Dive Online to learn about the PADI Enriched Air Nitrox eLearning.
After completing her PADI Enriched Air Nitrox eLearning. and a few practical applications with nearby PADI dive centre “Sin City Scuba” in Las Vegas, she was ready to get longer bottom time. Perfect for an upcoming trip to Bonaire!
We asked Norma a few questions about herself:
When and where did you start diving, and how many dives do you have now?
“I started diving in 2001 in Cozumel, Mexico at the age of 51, where most of the dives are drift dives. I have 437 dives to date and am still counting.”
How often do you get to dive and where?
“Before the pandemic, I would go on at least three or four dive trips per year. Since I am able to travel again, I plan on taking at least two trips per year for as long as I am able.”
Favourite dives ever?
“My favourite places to dive are the Cayman Islands, Bonaire and other islands in the Caribbean. In fact I took the PADI Enriched Air Nitrox eLearning specifically for my trip to Bonaire. They offered unlimited free Nitrox on every dive, and I wanted to stay underwater as long as possible, so it was an easy decision.”
Why did you decide to take the PADI Enriched Air Nitrox eLearning and become a Nitrox diver?
“By taking the Enriched Air Nitrox course online, I saved classroom time on my holiday. Less time in class, more time underwater!”
How did diving on Nitrox benefit you on your latest holiday in Bonaire?
“I wanted to stay underwater longer, and by using Nitrox, all my dives were over one hour long. Another bonus was that I didn’t feel as tired as I used to when breathing air. The highlight of this trip were the Frogfish! We saw several, both yellow and red. I actually saw one swim for the first time, very exciting!”
