Zaya's dive beginnings
Zaya’s first dive changed her life completely. She had always been a water baby. As she remembers her first plunge into the underwater realm, the call of the ocean would shape her future in ways she couldn’t have anticipated.
The PADI Instructor calling
Zaya’s decision to become a PADI Instructor was not a calculated career move. In her own words; “It was a calling that came to me while being at peace in the ocean. And additionally, through my close friends’ encouragement and years of yearning to share all the wonders of the ocean with everyone I meet.” Many inspired her decision, all of whom were in awe of the ocean, and exuded a vibe that was free and content.
Fulfilling the dream
Transitioning from a longing to a reality didn’t take Zaya long. At a point in her life where she sought a change from unfulfilling jobs that didn’t align with her passion, the decision to become a PADI Instructor proved to be the best one yet.
Overcoming concerns during the IDC
Navigating the Instructor Development Course (IDC) during the challenging days of Covid brought its own set of concerns for Zaya. The uncertainty of completing the course was eased when she discovered Scuba Dive Online. The online component of the IDC with Scuba Dive Online, provided fun, informative classroom sessions from the safety of her home. When her online group came together for the in-water sessions, she felt real camaraderie and a chance to learn different teaching styles and techniques—an achievement in which she takes immense pride.
Zaya’s Life as a PADI Instructor
Since becoming a PADI Instructor in August 2021, Zaya, along with her partner, is running The Dive Society, located between Rakeedhoo and Rasdhoo two local islands in The Maldives. Her days are filled with the joy of sharing the ocean’s wonders with eager divers, making every dive an opportunity for discovery and appreciation. She loves her job!
Beyond Diving and future dreams
Zaya’s love for creativity and continuous learning extends beyond diving. Whether pursuing artistic endeavors or acquiring new skills. The thrill of diving at a new site, the excitement of exploring the unknown, remains a constant source of enjoyment and inspiration.
Looking ahead, Zaya sees a future where she can make diving more affordable and accessible to a broader audience. Her dream is to share the wonders of the ocean with even more people, fostering a community of ocean enthusiasts who appreciate and protect the underwater world.
