What is a PADI Divemaster?

This is a question the Scuba Dive Online team are asked almost daily. The word “Divemaster” itself conjures up a vision of a leader, a mentor, and an expert. These are all qualities a Divemaster will acquire during PADI’s first professional level diving course, considered one of the most rewarding and comprehensive diving courses offered in the world.

When do I know I am ready to become a Divemaster?

I knew I was ready after completing my PADI Rescue Course. I realized that I was no longer nervous and relying on an Instructor to control every part of my dive. I had a new skillset and outlook on diving which made me more independent. Moreover, I could not stop sharing stories of my diving adventures and wanting more.

If you are feeling the same way I did, dreaming of your next dive, and driven to be the best diver you can be, then now is the time to start. PADI Divemasters are divers just like you who have decided to take their diving to a professional level.

Why should I become a PADI Divemaster?

To share your passion with others and introduce them to the wonders of the underwater world.  You will guide divers on adventures beyond belief.

To live the dream and earn money doing something you love.  This may be working full-time on a tropical paradise island or working part-time as a certified assistant at a local dive centre in your hometown. Either way, how many people can say they are passionate about their job?

To dive like a Pro by knowing your stuff.  During your PADI Divemaster course you will fine tune your diving skills to demonstration level, increase your diving knowledge through dive theory and knowledge development sessions and attend numerous workshops and hands on practical assessments. By the end of your course, you will be ready to take on professional responsibilities and be a role model to other divers.
